Freud Would Like This One
Mon Aug 9, 2010 12:26:55 pm

I had a dream about being very ill. My mother decided to treat me with acupuncture, but she did not use ordinary acupuncture needles. She used a special type of power drill with small diameter drill bits. The twisting action of the drill grabbed bits of flesh. It was painful and caused some depressions in my skin to become visible. The drill also had the ability to inject an herbal concoction into the holes that were made.

I only expect bad things to happen to people if my dream involved something bad happening to them.

I hardly have dreams I remember anymore, let alone someone doing painful like that to me. The dreams I do remember have been treating me well recently. They inform of me the predicaments and outcomes in life that I can't seem to realize when I am awake. I actually was relieved my dreams, my subconscious was thinking and telling me this (even if there a possibility that it may not be true) in the regard that I came to peace finally on my own.

I also interpret my dreams exactly the way they present themselves. If bad things happen to people I know in them I contact them soon. I never understood how those dream interpretations work..like the symbolism which led to non obvious interpretations. Those interpretations seemed all hokey pokey to me and lessened the meaning of dreams.

Back to Erdos' dream. Freud's repression concept is highly applicable to dreams.

I remember dreams almost every day. It's easy when most of them are repeated dreams. The pain in my dream originated from real sensations. I have a tendency to move my arms forward past my head when I sleep. The position interferes with circulation in my arms and causes tingling, numbness, or pain. The drilling in the dream was done in my arms.

Were you able to position your arms in the comfortable position during the dream (thus ceasing it)? I am suggesting that maybe you can become aware you are in a dream as it happens and fix the problem. Some persons have done it.

I experience sleep paralysis. I get a lot of lucid dreams, but I can never move in them. This was a serious problem when I was younger. My mother often covered my nose with my blanket when she checked on me at night. It didn't restrict air to the point of serious damage, but it still created a very uncomfortable suffocating feeling. Trying to move that blanket while still asleep was a tremendous struggle. It took several years for me to find a solution. I still can't overcome sleep paralysis, but I discovered that I could wake myself if I made vocal sounds while asleep.

I've actually been getting a lot of people recommending acupuncture to me since I hurt my back. I may try it someday soon.

It works well for pain, paralysis, and tremors. Avoid it for anything else.
