Blog-stalk Confessions: Tidbits...
Tue Aug 17, 2010 1:07:33 am
1- Football season. Finally. Jets and Giants open their new overpriced stadium tonight. Fun fun fun. And more importantly, we'll be playing football in the park very soon. Even more fun.
2- I am going to take a ten mile walk tomorrow. I need to start regaining my endurance, not to mention drop the weight I put on while I was inactive. Maybe I'll tape three pound weights to my ankles to amplify the intensity a bit.
3- I'm almost done selling my autograph collection. The bulk of it closes on Wednesday. I've enjoyed answering prospective buyer questions over the last few weeks. It has given me many chances to reflect on all the fun I had running around in the city.
4- For the third time in three years, I considered and dismissed the idea of taking a cross-country walk to Miami. I came closer this year than the last two years, but the timing is not right, and I'm also a bit overwhelmed by the potential of the idea.
5- I've gotten intellectually lazy. It occurs to me that I have not studied anything new in almost a year. I need to find something captivating. Suggestions are welcome.
6- I want to run my fingers through Jon Gruden's hair. In a very hetero way.
7- I've been writing comedy bits for a friend for a while now, and I recently started writing bits that he will never use. I wonder if I will ever find myself drawn to performing again. I tried acting for a bit, ages ago, and was pretty bad at it. I am terrible at memorizing lines, which is kind of a necessity. My repeated failures completely turned me off to being on stage in any kind of performance capacity. Dunno if the stuff I'm writing will draw me back. Probably just notebook fodder.
8- That is all.

I would never try #4 because I would be too worried about finding bathrooms.
What kind of acting did you do?

Screen. Tried stage once or twice, and did a little bit of comedy. Did bits in a bunch of student films and independent ventures and the like. Things actors do just to have credits when they start out. When I got speaking roles, I was awful. I never got a paying or legitimate industry job. What kind of acting did you do?

I'm usually game for anything that doesn't require heavy mathematics.

One time I walked six miles to avoid the bus (after walking quite a lot before that trek). My feet went numb, worn to the tendons, and unable to rise with the lift of my leg afterwards. Try running barefoot after the walking. I walk, run barefoot in the paved trails at a nearby park.I can run, walk barefoot without any complaint. Shoes make your feet heavy and cause them injury.

I'd be too worried about random glass shards to ever run barefoot in a public area.I can run, walk barefoot without any complaint. Shoes make your feet heavy and cause them injury.

It's not only the weight of the shoes. The biomechanics are completely different when you are barefoot.I can run, walk barefoot without any complaint. Shoes make your feet heavy and cause them injury.

I want to start a book club about nonfiction books. I'm starting to delve into this book called pedagogy of freedom by paulo freire and this book called teaching to transgress by bell hooks. Would you be interested in reading either of them? no image

Suck up that fear and use your energies to watch what you step on. Trust me, I've avoided using my eyes alone. Plus, when you run barefoot, you never land with heavy impact so if you feel something sharp, shift the bottom of your foot to remove it. Works for me. no image

That's why it feels so great, cause it's natural to run barefoot.

I don't really read nonfic lit. I'm all about fiction and technical/text/guide/workbooks, with a very occasional dash of historical biographies. Still, it could be an experience... would this be an irl book club or an internet book club?

I just discovered that Nike's Air Force 1s are the most comfortable shoes ever made. I bought one pair and intend to get another for when I play basketball. Fuck nature. no image

Yeah totally. Except I won't be here to read online until September 3rd. I'm leaving for India for my grandmother's funeral and internment.
