Useful Firefox Add-ons
Tue Sep 15, 2009 12:42:08 am

  1. Stop Autoplay - Prevents automatic playback of media. For example, if you do not want to hear Walter's voice every time you visit blog-stalk, installing this will prevent that audio clip from playing automatically. Playback is still possible if you click on the embedded object.
  2. Text Link - Converts URLs into links that can be opened in a new tab with a double click. This eliminates the need to copy a URL and paste it into the address bar of a new window or tab.
  3. Save Session - Provides a "Save Session and Exit" option in the file menu. This allows you to save the tabs and windows that are open for use in your next session. The next time you open Firefox, the session is restored to exactly how it was before you exited. This eliminates the need to reopen multiple windows and tabs that you alway keep open.
  4. ScrapBook - This one can be useful, but it can also be easily misused in a way that eventually leads to inconvenience. Scrapbook can save webpages and pages linked by the current page on which you start. Multiple levels of links can be specified for downloading. This can be useful if you want to download all the porn on a site that gives you a short term free trial. This add-on is promoted as a tool for saving webpages, but using it like an album of snapshots of webpages gets inconvenient after you scrapook tens of thousands of pages. The system scans the entire index of saved pages every time you mouse over the scrapbook menu, which gets added to menu bar. This can result in Firefox freezing for a moment if you have a lot of pages scrapbooked.
  5. Easy YouTube Video Downloader - Allows you to save a local copy of Youtube videos.

It's a bit complicated if you don't already know how. This is an overview:
1) Install Audacity
2) Install LAME
3) Record and encode as MP3
4) Upload to an audio host

The easiest way is to just record a youtube video.

I know. That is why you should do the youtube video.

I keep my pants extra loose when I am at home alone. When I reach over to turn off the camera, my pants sometimes fall down and is shown on camera. I edit that out before uploading.
