During my train ride home, I heard an announcement about a route change. There were no printed notices about this change, and no announcement was made to explain if this was a change for all trains or if it was only for the one that I was on.. I decided to get off the train and wait for the next one, hoping that it would not be rerouted, but it was too.
This ordinarily is not a significant problem. I can usually transfer later and eventually get to where I want to go with only a slight delay, but I discovered that the transfer was not an option today. By the time I got to the transfer point, train service on my line had been suspended in both directions. There was also a police officer blocking access. Typically, pink tape blocking the entrance is sufficient. I am not sure why the police officer was necessary. The police officer did not offer any explanation about what happened. The station agent also did not. I had to walk home.
I usually see something in the news when something like this happens, but I did not find anything. There was a knife fight in a train station earlier today, but that was at 5AM, and I was able to get on the train at 11:30AM. A crane fell in downtown Manhattan, but that wasn't close enough to the train line to affect it. I don't know what happened.

I am doing a computer repair in an unfamiliar apartment that is next door to one of the clients that I visit regularly. I hear a loud explosion and feel a dull pain in the right side of my butt. I look around and don't see anything unusual, so I go back to work. After I finish, I get up and realize that I can't stand properly. I realize that I am bleeding. I conclude that it was probably a gun shot wound to my butt.
The door to the apartment is suddenly open. I see K. being wheeled out. She is covered in blood and I notice that there is no respirator on her. I wonder if she is dead. Her husband H. comes out and tells me that everything is alright. I ask him what happened. He tells me that the elevator shaft collapsed because someone pulled out a brick. The injuries that K. and I experienced were from fragments of bricks flying. This made no sense to me and made even less sense when the process was explained on television. The elevator shaft has brick walls. One brick from the top was removed and that somehow caused all the bricks to collapse.

Most of my clients don't give tips, but one of them gives me a $10 tip in cash around 90% of the time. The usual procedure is he gives me $10 in cash and says "this is something extra". I thank him and leave. It was a bit different today. After giving me the check, he looked around his wallet for a long time, taking out many $20 bills. I knew that he was looking for a $10 bill, but it didn't seem right to just stand there waiting for it. He doesn't owe me that money. I put my jacket on extra slowly to give him time. When handing the $10 to me, he said "this is for lunch". I accepted it and thanked him. He escorted me to the elevator. While waiting, he asked me if I had lunch already. Without thinking about it, I said that I don't eat lunch, only breakfast and dinner. That made things more awkward.
I was interested in developing a Facebook game two years ago. I started the process of developing the game, but I lost interest before I developed anything playable. I never publicized it and did not expect anyone to know about it. I just checked tonight, because I had a discussion with someone about developing Facebook applications. According to the statistics page, 11 people have used the application. 4 of them used it this week. I have no idea what they are doing with an unplayable game.
I rarely watch sports, but I have been watching the Olympics. I have been thinking about it and I now see why it interests me. The Olympic Games are like Christmas music. There is a period of intense saturation followed by a long period without any of it. This fits well with my tendency to develop intense obsessions for short periods of time.
