Which reminds me - my first ever okc date lent me High Fidelity because I'd only seen the movie but not read the book. I called him the next day to say I'd forgotten my jacket at his place. He said, "Oh, but that's just a trick to see me again, cunning!" I said "That would be why you let me borrow the book then?" He said "Touche".

This post reminded me of when I learned "benzene". The man who was painting my apartment when I was 5 had an unusual accent. He pronounced "Thursday" like "Tursey". He had to say it about 10 times before we figured out when he was planning to come back to finish painting. When he returned, he brought a can of clear liquid along with his paint. I asked him what that was and he said:
"Ben!zene (exclamation on the first syllable), but we in the business call it paint thinner."
I consulted the dictionary after that.
