I have been contemplating who the next victim should be.

boyfriend always picks up coins and says that he does that to give them back to their rightful owner: the European (or the country you're in) economy.

Perception sounds like an excellent class to take. JND is certainly interesting, but I still wonder if, with knowledge of equity, there is much less feedback of perceived variance. It is the differences people would make up about two equal portions of sensory input that I want to know. If THAT makes any sense.

(I mean I want to know what people only imagine is different, when given The Pepsi Challenge.)
I think you want to measure the strength of the placebo effect.

My sister has eczema. Nobody else in the family has it, but we are not sure if she was switched at birth.

I think I am still enjoying/appreciating everything that is "free" due to the way I grew up. And money lying on the ground is free money to me.
What factors in your early childhood contributed to your appreciation of free things?

What about foreign coins? Would you pick them up? I generally try to keep them once I get one.
Only if it looks very intriguing.

I don't pick up any money less than a dollar unless I recognize that it's a rare coin, which has never happened.

I am wearing blue underwear today. No ice cones, no martinis and no monkeys...I have monkey socks, though, but I am not wearing them now. I think we should also talk about socks more often. I have a lot of cute ones.

It calls into question what it takes to be identical. To the commoners more pairs of wines are identical than are to the sommeliers.

What I'd like to see are more studies about perceived variance between identical items. For example, if given two glasses of wine poured equally from the same bottle, how many people, when asked to compare the two, would actually say they are exactly the same, not knowing they are?
Helmholtz studied "just noticeable differences" very extensively. More than half of my class in perception was devoted to the topic.
